When I
meditate, when I come to a certain point I suddenly feel intensely
thirsty. Why is this?
It is a sign
of an initial degree of concentration, the manifestation of which
differs from person to person. The thing which all these signs
share in common is that they are all experiences which seem intensely
acute. In your case it is not real thirst: if you relax and pay
no attention to it, the mind will become calm and you will no
longer feel thirsty. Different people have different experiences
of the same stage of meditation; it might be thirst, it might
be pain, it might be tickling on the skin. It is usually an intense
sensation. But in all cases, if you pay no attention to it, it
will fade away. Just pay attention to the Centre of the body and
True concentration will be attained.
